It depends.: The basic ingredients of laundry detergent are washing soda, Borax and soap. Most studies show borax is safe for mammals including people, even tho it's deadly to many insects. Like any household cleaner, homemade detergent and its ingredients MUST BE KEPT AWAY FROM CHILDREN. My recommendation is to purchase detergents that have only these ingredients and spend the time you save with family.
