Infection: Mild itchiness and redness initially may be normal. However pain, progressive swelling, progressive redness with streaking, warmth are signs of infection. Warm washcloth multiple times daily dilates blood vessels allowing the ingress of white blood cells. See a physician as antibiotics may be indicated.
