Other factors: Internal hemorrhoids are normally painless. The reason why you may be experiencing pain has that you could be suffering with external hemorrhoids (which can cause pain.) Other conditions which can also cause pain include anal fissures. These are small tears in the anal region which can cause pain with bowel movements. It may be worthwhile for you to be seen by your primary care physician.

Pain from hemorrhoid: Typically internal hemorrhoids are not painful, however, if internal hemorrhoids have prolapsed they can extend toward the rectum or even stick out. This could cause some discomfort or pain, especially if you are have difficult bowel movements. Also if you have still been straining it could possibly be a fissure or something other than the internal hemorrhoid. Make sure you have it seen.
