A member asked:

Rai for graves 30 yrs ago. now us findings: calcified focus in region of left lobe occupying much of the remaining left lobe & is densely calcified?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Good sign.: Complete calcification following RAI means that there is no more active thyroid tissue in the treated area. If the remain heathy tissue keeps your thyroid hormone levels normal (or if you're getting enough replacement hormone), you should be fine. Of course, I'm assuming the pathology report didn't show any signs of thyroid cancer. If you have any further concerns, discuss it with your doctor.
