No rabies from shot: The rabies vaccine is not a live vaccine; it does not transmit disease. Rabies vaccine is essentially always effective in preventing rabies if it is administered very soon after the exposure (bite) and all of the doses are given, and at the proper time interval. Cases of rabies after vaccine has been given are due to inappropriate vaccine use and consequent rabies disease development.
