Get evaluated...: If you are having significant pain accompanied by fever, vomiting, feeling very sick in overall it is time to go to the ED for immediate evaluation since your gallbladder could be infected and it could be dangerous. If the pain is not severe but still having on and off symptoms then it is a good idea to see a surgeon and check if they recommend surgery at this time.

Get a workup asap: Gallstone pain is managed either with or without surgery. If the stone passes without any complications, you can sometimes avoid surgery. However, if you keep having attacks or complications like infection, nausea, pain or things like that you may need a surgery to remove the stone or the gallbladder. Infection and blockage can be serious so its important to see a doctor right away.
