Is it common for teens transitioning to college to become depressed?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Yes: Transitioning to college is a very stressful time filled with thoughts of loss of your previous life and fear that you will not do well in your future endeavors. These feelings are normal and experienced by every college freshman. It can be especially difficult if you are leaving home and going to live in another state. If feelings of depression last more than a few weeks see your doctor.
