Pregnancy: I think it is unlikely that you are pregnant if you are taking your bc correctly and not on antibiotics. In addition, your symptoms are not all consistent with pregnancy. The UTI is more likely the diagnosis at this early juncture after sexual intercourse.

Unlikely: If you are using your birth control right, pregnancy is unlikely. A urinary tract infection IS likely. It is so common there is even a name for it- honeymoon cystitis. To lessen the risk it is a good idea to urinate after intercourse.

Maybe not: These symptoms may be related to your UTI. More common in females and when sexually active, especially initial or restart of sexual activity. There are several questions, factors , if you are consistent with BC, good, with condoms , great ! This is ideal, BC+Condoms. Breast tenderness rarely occurs with in a few days of conception. If you are late with upcoming menses, check home preg test

See your ENT: You have some sort of chronic problem, but it is hard to know what is going on over the computer. Most likely you are dealing with allergies, chronic sinusitis, or perhaps laryngeal reflux. A thorough history, physical exam and maybe some x-rays or other tests will help sort out the problem. Sinus rinses are a helpful solution for sinus congestion and allergy complaints as well. Good luck!

Yes, but not easy: Given the above factors and age (sorry, age 35 isn't 25), chances are not as good as if those factors did not exist. Use birth control to prevent unwanted pregnancy; see ob/gyn, perhaps fertility specialist if trying to get pregnant.

Dizzy: With multiple complaints which apparently are uncomfortable, you need to see your pcp to find out the cause, whether medical problem or effect of some medication.

Severe lower back pa: Not likely that the symptoms have anything to do with your appendectomy. Chest pain along with severe pain in the back should be looked at by your physician. This could be something serious so see your dr.

A 50-year-old female asked:

Platelets 159, monocytes 10%, the rest of CBC normal. Mono test neg. Thyroid fine. Bruising, bleeding gums, very painful hip, wakes me up. My gp is baffled. What, if anything, should I do to find out what is going on? Thanks.

Seek help: It is possible to have mono with a normal mono test. The bruising and bleeding gums are really worrisome. I would ask to see a hematologist for further testing.
