Viral illness: Yes as long as you have an active viral illness your fever can persist. Make sure you have been checked out by your doctor to make sure you don't have a bacterial cause for the fever.

Fever: Hi, how ongoing are we talking about, a simple viral infection should go away after at most 7 days, if you still having fever then you need evaluation to rule out more serious causes.
