Tubal failure: Unfortunately, every contraceptive method has a failure rate. When tubes are cauterized in a single location only(burnt), then the tubes can go around the site and regrow (recanalization.) This happens in one of every 200 to 500 cases using single burn methods. Once failure occurs, then pregnancy in the tube itself (ectopic) is common and is dangerous to you if not evaluated and removed.

Tubal pregnancy: Tubal ligation is not 100 % effective. If your pregnancy test is positive, you need a pelvic ultrasound to determine, where the pregnancy is located. After tubal ligation there is a high risk of tubal pregnancy.
