Limited options: The answer to your question depends on what kind of pain you have. Medicines like ibuprofen and tylenol (acetaminophen) are limited if the liver function is impaired. Be careful not to use too much of them, and stay under close medical supervision. A medicine like gabapentin may help some kinds of pain. It is metabolized by the kidneys, not the liver. It is not good for joint pain however.
