AA: Your aunt obviously need supportive therapy. AA should be useful, but she has to be enrolled in the possibility of spending time with members of the family who loves her. Forcing someone to go to AA is usually not successful

Self destruction: unfortunately, alcoholism is an addiction and the only recourse would be detox and a rehabilitation program. Lifespan is shortened by the duration and quantity of alcohol intake.

Not long: On the outside - under a year and I believe that is for people who have stopped drinking. It may be very painful too and there is simply nothing I can find to say that is hopeful. Hospice is the thought I have and their experience with palliative care will be a big help to make the last months as good as possible. If you can, try to enjoy your time together and let a pro deal w/ the hard stuff.
