Trigeminal nerve?: Perhaps it is trigeminal neuralgia. This is irritation of the trigeminal nerve, normally for no specific reason. It is not normally harmful. Sometimes people use medicine to calm the pain, when it is very frequent. Another possibility is ice pick headache. A final possibility is temporal arteritis, this is not likely. It would be worse with chewing and possible be often sore to the touch.
