Tonsil: A fibrotic or scarred tonsil won't cause harm. The decision to have a tonsillectomy has to do with the number of infections that you've had

New term to me: The only urgent reasons for tonsillectomy are removal of possible cancer, treatment for childhood sleep apnea, or severe infection unresponsive to antibiotics such as peritonsillar abscess. If you feel well, the is no urgency to surgery.
