A member asked:

What does a significant pneumatization of the petrous apex mean?suffered from migraines for 6 months and sphenoid and maxillary sinusitis

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Normal: This is a variant of normal and basically means you have air cells (similar to that seen in other sinuses) within the petrous bone. In the absence of inflammation within this aerated petrous bone (usually by the presence of fluid in the air cells along with clinical signs and symptoms of sinusitis) this finding is not significant to you.
