Nerve irritability: It appears that the rib cage nerves or muscles are irritable or slightly inflamed. This dysesthesia is best evaluated by a neurologist for diagnosis, causes and treatment.

PHN: Is this the place you had Shingle? If it is Unilateral ( only on one side of the back) most likely Post Herpetic Neuralgia. Can be treated with Topical Capsaicin (OTC) by mouth Antiinflammatory like Advil and Aleve (naproxen). Rx strength Lidocaine Patch may help and in worse case you may need Stronger pain medicine.
