Need evaluation: Acute abdominal pain can be caused by various benign and life-threatening causes. If you have watery diarrhea, without formed stool, this can be due to acute gastroenteritis. However, normal stools, with passage of mucus is less likely due to gastroenteritis, which may need early intervention and evaluation.
