how long does it take for a herpes sore to turn into an ulcer?

Dr. Charles Whiting

2 days: It depends somewhat on if it is your first outbreak or a subsequent outbreak. Herpes follows a pattern: 1) Skin Reddening/irriation (Lasts 1-4 days) 2) Blisters (2 days) 3) Ulcerations (1-2 weeks) 4) Scabbing/Crusting (2-3 days) 5) Healing (4 days) Best wishes!
