Occasionally: During a state of infection or inflammation lymph nodes enlarge. Benign lymph nodes are usually oval and mobile (roll around under the skin). Other skin conditions such as epidermal inclusion cysts and dermatofibromas are connected closer to the outer skin. With multiple or enlarging nodes or masses, a physician should evaluate.
