Very serious: These do not invade or destroy by infiltration like cancers do, but they are still extremely troublesome. 10 mm or more is a macroadenoma, but far smaller ones can ruin lives. If you are offered bromcriptine, give it a try and see if it helps. This often puts these tumors to sleep and lets you have a good life.

Microadenoma: Hi. A pituitary tumor up 10 mm in diameter is a microadenoma (a macro adenoma if diameter is 11 mm or greater). It sounds as if it is a functioning tumor (secretes a hormone), since your periods have stopped. The most likely would be a prolactinoma (an adenoma that secretes prolactin). They are NOT like threatening. ACTH-secreting adenomas also halt periods. Your doc will discuss treatment options
