Follow-up Needed: 4 yr old "bacterial throat infec 3 wks ago". Children at this age are prone to frequent upper respiratory infections. It is not uncommon to see one illness closely follow another. It is likely your child contracted another infection, likely viral which accounts for persistence of fever & lack of response to 2nd antibiotic. See your doctor for re-evaluation of diagnosis. Close monitoring is crucial

Throat infections: Most throat infections in children are viral and do not respond to antibiotic. If the doc tested her throat and had a culture result that was positive for strep or other bacteria, then I would expect the fever to resolve. If she is not better in a day, go back and ask for a throat culture, blood count and perhaps a mono test to help figure out what is going on.
