Strep treated?: Was the strep treated with antibiotics? The lump on the neck needs to be looked at by a doctor, but is probably enlarged lymph node, especially if it is off to one side of the neck. Any lump in the midline of the neck needs to be examined. Follow up with your doctor, preferably the one who diagnosed strep.

Mononucleosis?: How were you diagnosed with strep throat? If you took a course of Amoxicillin the symptoms should be gone by now. It is possible you were misdiagnosed and are suffering from infectious mononucleosis which routinely resolves on its own. If the swelling gets larger or becomes painful see your primary doctor as soon as possible.

Cervical lymph node: It is not uncommon to get lymph nodes in the neck after an infection of the head or neck. The infection either virus or bacteria is getting cleaned up and this is reflected in the lymph node. The white blood cells carry the infection to the lymph nose where it distroys and walls off the infection. If the lymph nose persists over a few weeks and gets worse and not better, see a doctor.
