A member asked:

Can acid reflux actually happen because of too little acid being produced?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Yes: Reflux depends on the ability of the muscles at the esophagogastric junction to be functioning well enough to keep the contents of the stomach in the stomach. This is unrelated to acid, though the injury to the esophagus is worse the greater the acid in the gastric juices
