Fasting glucose: Yes, stress can elevate adrenaline, which can increase blood sugar. A fasting glu is actually a very good indicator of diabetes if it is truly fasting, represents your normal state, and is done correctly. If you fasting glu is consistently less than 100 and your A1C is less than 6.5, you are ok. But you can still apply appropriate diet, weight loss and exercise.

Calibration?: Cortisol has been associated with stress & blood sugar; however, the variations are relatively small & can fluctuate throughout the day. Similar to blood pressure readings, which may rise in the doctors office due to stress, a blood sugar reading in the office should be checked more than once, & taken in context, when deciding to treat it. A hemoglobin A1C can show 3 month average blood sugar.
