2400mg/day24hrs.: the max dose I prescribe is 800mg TID which is 2400 mg /day sustained use of ibuprofen or combination with aspirin can cause GI bleeding there may be some relation to cardiac disease with prolonged use as well as with alleve, vioxx, celebrex (celecoxib) etc
