Water content: Creams in general contain more water than gels.As a result, some people may notice drier skin when using the gel if they are not moisturizing their skin adequately

They differ: gels are clear and often alcohol based and tend to disappear cosmetically when applied creams are opaque and have an emollient base and may be less cosmetically appealing and may give skin a greasy appearance unlike gels
