RICE: rest ice and elevation when sitting. could be tendonitis or a strain. take it easy for a few days, then start using heat on it for the next 2-3 days. Take motrin as well. once pain improves walk for 20 minutes, then apply heat for 5 and stretch gently. do this for 3-5 days. if not better go see a doc for tests and/or therapy.

PT usually best: RICE is appropriate but best to see a physical therapist for a good rehab program. This can turn into a very nagging problem if not treated appropriately. If truly an Achilles tendinopathy then eccentric strengthening can be very helpful. Sometimes injections can also be used, so seeing a PMR or sports med doc for further evaluation and help with devising a good program is a great place to start.
