New onset psychosis?: Or just phobias? Phobias are common and most often benign. Aerophobia is one of the most common. If the patient is elderly, the list of potentital causes for new onset paranoia and/or psychosis and is broad and usually secondary to underlying disease. If she is younger, the 20s is the decade when primary psychotic disorders usually first become evident. I agree she needs a hospital evaluation.
