Taking dexilant (dexlansoprazole): probably best time to take it is about 30 min before a meal because after you eat your acid level in your stomach is rising and the Dexilant (dexlansoprazole) will suppress the production of the acid and help with your reflux or heartburn symptoms (if that is what your doctor gave it to you for)

Before a meal: As with all drugs of the PPI class, Dexilant (dexlansoprazole) may work better if taken 20-30 minutes before a meal, once a day. It is best to take it on a schedule and to be sure to swallow the capsule whole. Do not chew it.
