Depends on condition: Generally 400 mg of ibuprofen as a one time dose will be well tolerated. The problem with ibuprofen as with all non steroidal anti inflammatory drugs is that they can cause sodium retention - thereby raising blood pressure and creating a volume overload both of which can push a failing heart too hard. Check with your doc to be sure.
