Interference: They interfere with each other. If you must take ibuprofen, you should take the Aspirin 1 hour before or at least 4 hours after any Ibuprofen or the Aspirin will not be able to provide the platelet inhibitory ("blood thinning" effect. Ibuprofen does not prevent heart disease and there is data that like other nsaids, it increases it slightly.

Why meds: We know that if you have cv risks to take aspirn that Ibuprofen with interfer with its efficacy. You physican will have to look at you risks and what therapy you need. Alternative to Ibuprofen that does not have this NSAID interference with Aspirin is important if you need aspirin.
