Safe to eat: Fish roe are high in salt and cholesterol. A review didn't turn up any other problems with eating fish eggs.

Fish and pregnancy: Eating no more than 12 ounces of fish/fish product per week that is low in mercury content would be the best during a normal pregnancy. Fish to stay away from due to higher mercury content are: swordfish, shark, or mackerel to name a few.
