Neuralgias: Usually these are minor irritations of nerve roots that can have vitamin B12 deficiency, alcohol overuse, and or diabetes as some of the worrisome causes. However, most of the time they are benign and could be secondary to trauma, age, or prior herpes zoster (shingles) infections. Alternatively, if you note them associated with times of stress or worry they could be related to hyperventilation.
