Rescue & maintenance: Most asthmatics use Albuerol or form of albuterol which helps to decrease the airway obstruction. This is your rescue medication. If you have chronic symptoms your doctor may give an Inhaled Steroid (ICS) or mix of long acting albuterol with ICS to decrease the airway inflammation. This medication is your maintenance medication and is used daily whether you have symptoms or not.
