A member asked:

I'm a t1 diabetic with an elevated microalbumin of 41.8mg. this is over 30 and my doc didn't feel the need to address this. should i be concerned?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Microalbuminuria: Many authorities believe no treatment is needed until microalbumin reaches 100. Some feel that anything over 30 needs to be treated. I tend to treat my patients earlier, but I think your doctor is not wrong. If you are concerned discuss your concerns with your doctor and come to a compromise. If you have hypertension or are already on an ACE or an ARB this is already being treated.
