A member asked:

If there was still blood flow during testicular torsion could the testicle survive? or any amount of testicular torsion causes it to die after 24hr?

Testicular torsion: When testicular torsion is not treated for several hours, blocked blood flow can cause permanent damage or death of the testicle. If the testicle is badly damaged, it has to be surgically removed. If blood flow is intact then the damage would;t be permanent.

Emergency!: You will need to go to the ER immediately to be seen by a surgeon. You don't wait for anytime.

Depends: Total ischemia with torsion is known and kills the testis. BUT with a partial twist and some arterial and venous flow, survival is possible, BUT may have later shrinkage- atrophy and dysfunction.
