A member asked:

If pain disappears during a torsion does it mean the testicle is in necrosis stage or was it an episode of intermittent testicular torsion?

Likely torsion undon: Without an actual examination, I cannot give specific medical advice on your particular health First, it's hard to say it is torsion unless there is a very careful exam with ultrasound. Trauma/irritation cause intermittant pain without torsion and is more common. Then, torsion can subside. Necrosis takes considerable time to occur and much longer to subside.

If: Torsion is suspected immediate radiologic examination is necessary. Torsion should not be ruled out on the basis of change in pain. While necrosis will take time urgent intervention is required to save the testicle
