A member asked:

My infant won't make a bowl movement unless i stick a thermometer in her rectum and move it around. is this normal? how do i get her to go on her own?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Bowel Movements: She will go on her own when she is ready to go. The biggest mistake we as parents make is thinking our babies have to go everyday. If you keep stimulating her with the thermometer, she will get to the point she will only go when she has that stimulus. So stop doing that. Some babies go multiple times a day, some go everyday, some go once a week. Adults do that too. Be patient.
