Braces: They will not correct the shape of individual teeth but they will correct the relationship of the teeth to each other resulting in straight teeth. The also will correct bite problems and crowding of teeth among other things.

Braces: Braces for the teeth correct the position of the teeth, not the shape.

Medicine: "Braces," fixed Orthodontic Appliances, are the medicine that Orthodontists use to correct a malocclusion (bad bite). Orthodontic treatment will correct the alignment, function, and stability of the teeth and jaws and are very effective. Braces will not correct the shape of the teeth. Often Orthodontic treatment eliminates the need for restorative treatment or enhances the restorative result.
