How old is your so: Your best approach to to discuss it with your physician, You need to decide if it is related to the tonsils or something else. Removal of the tonsils is a possibility but not until the diagnosis is clear.

See doctor: Tonsil stones normally do not cause symptoms. Very large tonsils and adenoids may cause obstruction and breathing problems at night. You need to take him to his doctor soon with the trouble breathing and choking. It may or may not be related to his muscular dystrophy. He needs a full evaluation of his lungs and ear/nose/throat to know what needs to be treated.
