What can we do to help my 7 year old grandson, he has meltdowns that destroy things and very negative outbursts that go on for hours?

Professional help: 7 year olds should not have such destructive meltdowns. There may be more to his problem that could explain that. How you and his parents discipline him, his health status, school performance, and many other factors could lead to this. His pediatrician can help coordinate the referrals to specialist before his behavior gets worse, and affect his future life.

Behavior modificatio: Looks like your grand son is exhibiting signs of psychological distress that shows off in different ways in different individual based on several factors of family dynamics, personality etc. If he hasnt been evaluated for his behavior issues, it would be beneficial to get him tested with a qualified child phychologist who would provide a written detailed report to your pediatrician for action reqd
