Acute Injuries: Acute injuries are usually treated with ice, rest and stretching. That said, any pain is your body's way of telling you something is wrong. When simple treatments such as ibuprofen, ice and stretching doesn't help, there maybe something more going on which needs to be evaluated by a physician who specializes in low back pain.
