It's for allergies: Sometimes allergies present like colds. When there is sneezing and a runny nose, try an antihistamine once. If the symptoms improve in 1 hour, then you are suffering from allergies not a cold. Continue it in that case. Reduce background irritants during the attack & avoid perfumes, & candles, soaps, room sprays & detergents with fragrances. If it does not work, it is not allergies & stop it.

Yes: It's an antihistamine that can be quite useful for sneezing and runny nose. Follow the recommended dosage on the package directions. It use primarily for allergic symptoms but the cold can cause similar symptoms and this might help. It is meant to be non drousy but it still might make some patients drousy.
