Rogaine (minoxidil): Testosterone metabolized to DHT or dihydrotestosterone causes male pattern hair loss in women with PCOS along with acne, thickened body hair, and problems with weight and fertility. Glucophage (metformin) aids in weight loss and fertility and has only rarely if ever caused hair loss. I would try Rogaine 2%(minoxidil) over-the-counter. There is also 5% available by prescription.
