Is caduet alright for someone with diabetes?

Diabetes cv risk: Two factors that influence cv risk the most in diabetics include HTN and hyperlipidemia. Caduet contains amlodipine for BP and Atorvastatin for lipid reduction. Clinical trials have demonstrated efficacy of Atorvastatin in cv protection in diabetics regardless of baseline lipid levels.

Usually yes.: Caduet combines blood pressure and cholesterol meds. Cholesterol one's a statin, and some statins are associated with (but have NOT been shown to definitely CAUSE) higher blood sugars, A1c, and new cases of diabetes. But statins work in many ways. For now, there is decent consensus that the benefit of statins and blood pressure lowering outweighs risk for many diabetes patients.
