See a dentist: In order to correct the problem causing a toothache, it is important to see a dentist. In the meantime, an over the counter pain medication may help take the edge off.

Temporary relief: Best? Actually only treatment! In the meantime avoid cold, hot, and sweets. If necessary, take OTC pain medication that you would normally take for a headache. Make an appointment.
