Why do our stomaches rumble/hurt if we haven't ate in a while?

Normal: Our bodies tell us when the stomach and intestine need food for our needs. Our intestines are working all the time, even when we don't eat. Our intestines share in the work of immunity protection, reacting to what we eat and what we have exposure to.

A Normal Process: Hunger causes stomach rumbling & mild cramping pain. Certain hormones notify our brain when food intake is needed. More hormones signal the release of stomach digestive juices & movement of muscles in the stomach wall. This movement mixes & pushes stomach contents into the duodenum which can cause cramps. The rumbling noises can sound louder when your stomach is empty. Eating regular meals helps.
