They may work: Many people obtain relief from intrathecal steroid injections. You need to discuss this with your personal physician as well as with the orthopedist or neurosurgeon whom you have seen. If it works, it is a less onerous treatment than more extensive surgery

Tough situation: Repetitive surgery has significant limitations, including post-operative arachnoiditis and scarring. Might be worth a try to use the shots, but unfortunately, these, at best would be short term benefits. Another option is to use McKenzie Back Exercises, and can be taught by a physical therapist.
