i have a purple bump on the inside of my upper leg. it's very sore and tender. do not see any "head" or any puss. what is this? a boil, a cyst....

Hard to say: It's hard to say without seeing it. Possibilities include an infected hair follicle, an early abscess, an ingrown hair. If is worsening go to your doctor and get it examined in person.
