Every 2 months: GARDASIL is given as 3 injections over 6 months, the second dose comes 2 months after the first dose, and the third dose comes 6 months after the first dose. (The recommended interval to next dose is 2 months.) The minimum interval to next dose is 1 month.

Waning protection: The timing recommendations for this vaccine were developed by researchers that studied antibody response over time. Giving the 2nd and 3rd dose together essentially just gave you the 2nd dose. The immune system doesn't care that you got a bigger 2nd dose. The third dose is what is supposed to insure you get many years if not indefinite protection. With two, it may disappear after a few years.
